News: Funz & Gamez To Get A TV Try-Out

Funz & Gamez

Funz and Gamez is to be made into a TV pilot. The show, which won the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award Panel Prize last summer, was a huge word-of-mouth hit in Edinburgh and recently completed a run at the Soho Theatre in London. It returns to London this summer for performances at the Udderbelly Festival. According to website gigglebeats.co.uk the pilot will be shot in Salford next month.

The show stars Phil Ellis as a reluctant children's entertainer who cracks gags and teases the kids in the audience while also making darker references to his marital difficulties. The show also features Mancunian stand-up Mick Ferry as boozy sidekick Uncle Mick and James Meehan from Gein's Family Gift Shop as sulky Jim Elf. The cast is completed by Will Duggan and Tom Short. Here is our review of the show.

The BBC is looking for families of four with children aged between 9 and 14 to be in the audience for the recording, with a view to it being screened on BBC3. Anyone interested should contact [email protected]. Filming takes place on March 25. Closing date for applications is March 1.
