PAUL AND KATHY ON BOTH BECOMING ILL AT THE SAME TIME CAUSED BY HARRY ENFIELD

Paul: I don’t know if I can draw you out on our very similar health problems, can I draw you out about that?

Kathy: Yes, of course you can […] me and you many years ago, this is before you had your heart trouble, we're talking about 15 years ago or something?

Paul: Yeah. I had an abscess in my colon.

Kathy: You did.

Paul: and you had a similar thing, didn't you?

Kathy: I had an abscess as well.

Paul: I like to say ‘who's the common denominator?’ Harry fucking Enfield.

Kathy: Harry fucking Enfield.

Paul: How else did we both end up with that? What are the chances?

Kathy: It’s caused by stress.

Paul: There you go.

Kathy: So the stress of Enfield nearly sent us both to an early fucking grave.

PAUL ON WANTING TO DIE FROM A HEROIN OVERDOSE AND ISSUING HARRY ENFIELD A DIGNITAS VOUCHER FOR HIS BIRTHDAY

Paul: I'd like an overdose of some heroin I think; something like that. I mean, you can provide it or I can find a dealer near me, there's loads around.

[00:09:16] Kathy: What do you mean I could provide it?

[00:09:18] Paul: Well, you’re my death hostess.

[00:09:20] Kathy: Yes, that's true I'm the big person in power.

[00:09:23] Paul: Exactly. So, it's not illegal in your world, is it? That's how I'd like to go. Does that sort of resonate as a sort of modern death, because I'm all for dignitas me.

Kathy: Yeah, me too.

[00:09:33] Paul: I really am. In fact, me and Harry used to do it, we had a little gag on stage as the old gits and I'd got him dignitas vouchers for his birthday.

PAUL ON REGRETTING TRYING ECSTASY

(Talking on celebrities using different drugs)

Paul: […] I did that with Ecstasy.

Kathy: Oh, did you?

Paul: Yeah, because I was a bit too old for all that, you know? It was not my thing, but I took some one night, and I went to this party and I thought, ‘oh, I'm in heaven this is incredible’. I vowed there and then never to do it again for that very reason. Too nice, too good and I thought it can’t be this good, and of course it wasn't.

PAUL ON HIS BIGGEST REGRETS IN HIS LIFE + REGRETTING SUPPORTING TOTTENHAM

Kathy: […] any regrets in your life?

Paul: I've got so many regrets Kath you wouldn’t believe it.

Kathy: Really? That surprises me.

Paul: I've had loads, and I don't believe people who say they've gone through life without any regrets, or they must be very callous, I think. I've hurt people in life, and I sort of wish I hadn't. I suppose you can't go through life without causing a bit of disturbance as you romp through life.

Kathy: No, you are right. I suppose you can't go through life without hurting somebody unless you're going to be a Buddhist Monk or something like that. […] Do you regret supporting Tottenham?

Paul: That is one of my biggest regrets, and I've managed to at least coerce one of my daughters into supporting Tottenham and that's shocking isn't it to inflict that on a child.

PAUL TO JOIN THE ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES CAST ON THE UPCOMING TOUR

Kathy: You're still doing Only Fools and Horses the Musical?

[00:01:48] Paul: Yes, I am Kathy, up until the end of April and then we are going to close. We're quite smug and a bit pleased with ourselves because it's the longest running show at The Theatre Royal Haymarket.

[00:02:00] Kathy: Amazing but does that include the pandemic break?

[00:02:05] Paul: Oh, even if you take the year or more out it's still the longest running show at the Haymarket. Don't try and get me on detail, Burkey.

Kathy: […] then you have a break and then it's going on tour?

Paul: Yes, it's going on tour next year. We hope to do a tour, I don’t know what the dates are yet, but I'll dip my toe into that as well.
