NextUp launch New Act Competition at The Comedy Store

NextUp, the streaming service fast becoming the worldwide  ‘home of live comedy’ is launching a new act competition at  the Comedy Store in support of our mission to unearth comedy’s best new talent whilst showcasing great circuit legends.

Hosted by Amy Gledhill (TV regular and one half of The Delightful Sausage) and headlined by Clinton Baptiste (Phoenix Nights), the first monthly heat is on the 25th of May and features six contestants.

Live or Die is a tongue in cheek, frenetic show where contestants are rushed on and off stage in quick succession and then voted on by the audience in the room for the ‘room winner’ and by the online audience for the ‘online winner’ both of whom return the next week to do a longer 6-9 minute set. The show rounds out in style with a 30 min set by a comedy legend.

The competition runs the year, with a grand finale in December where the winner will be awarded £500 cash and the opportunity for their first special to be filmed for NextUp.

NextUp members can watch online or attend in person, full info is here: nextupcomedy.com/liveordie

Amy Williams, NextUp’s producer says “We can’t wait to launch Live or Die - whether you’re streaming from your sofa or you’ve made it to the venue, it’s  a quality, fast-paced new act competition that packs a punch. And if you’re in the room, there’s a chance you’ll be randomly selected as our ‘expert judge’ who gets to share their comedy credentials and impressive opinions with the crowd!”
