Date Confirmed for Toast Of Tinseltown

TV: Toast of Tinseltown, BBC Two

The transmission date has been confirmed for the new series featuring Matt Berry as hapless actor Steven Toast.

Toast Of Tinseltown will start on BBC Two on Tuesday, 4 January, 2022 at 10pm.

There will be six episodes featuring Toast attempting to make it big in Hollywood.

According to the press information the first episode is entitled Anger Man.

"Toast (Matt Berry) is becoming increasingly angry and everyone is noticing - even Ray Purchase (Harry Peacock). There’s no chance of landing the big movie audition in this state.

After a successful visit to an anger management centre, Toast is a new man and sets about apologising to all the people he’s been rude to.

However, when he reveals the extent of his wrongdoing to Purchase, the pair come face to face at the Colonial Club."

Written and created by Arthur Mathews and Matt Berry and produced by Objective Fiction in association with wiip, Toast of Tinseltown will feature a mix of new and returning cast members and is set to be filmed later this year.

Three series of Toast of London originally aired on Channel 4 between 2013 and 2015, all written by Arthur and Matt, who scooped the BAFTA Best Male Comedy Performance for his role.

Matt Berry says of the new series: “I couldn't be more thrilled to not only be working with Arthur and the rest of the Toast family again, but to also be taking the show to the BBC which I know Toast himself would very much approve.”
