As a New Year dawns, the supreme Taskmaster Greg Davies and his doting assistant Little Alex Horne welcome five famous faces from all corners of the entertainment world to step up and face a set of ludicrous challenges in the latest instalment of the one-off special, ‘Taskmaster’s New Year Treat’ on Channel 4.
We’ve had a few firsts on this series of Taskmaster. One of which is that there was a proposal in the studio!

As another victorious Taskmaster champion is crowned, a brand-new bunch of the nation’s best and brightest comic minds have been selected by the Taskmaster Greg Davies to compete in a series of his most tricksy tasks yet, while a watchful Little Alex Horne calmly observes and takes notes with admirable efficiency in the 16th series of the BAFTA winning and Emmy nominated global comedy juggernaut.
The nominations for the Bafta Television Awards have been announced. Among those in the running for awards are Daisy May Cooper for Am I Being Unreasonable? Ghosts and Taskmaster. For a full list of nominations in the comedy-related categories see below.
The BAFTA Television Awards, hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, take place on Sunday 14 May.
COMEDY ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMME
A new trailer has been released to promote the upcoming series of Taskmaster which starts on Channel 4 on Thursday, March 30 at 9pm.
The series will feature comedian and TV host Frankie Boyle (Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, BBC Two), stand-up comedian Ivo Graham (Have I Got News For You, BBC One), award-winning comedian Jenny Eclair (Older and Wider), actor and writer Kiell Smith-Bynoe (Ghosts, BBC One) and award-winning Canadian comedian, actor, writer and producer Mae Martin (Feel Good, Netflix).
Channel 4 and Avalon have announced the launch of new children-focused entertainment show Junior Taskmaster following the continuing success of ratings and critical hit Taskmaster, which is also renewed for a further six series by the broadcaster.
The winners of The National Comedy Awards were revealed in a star-studded ceremony hosted by Tom Allen and broadcast live on Channel 4.
Trophies were handed out by stars of comedy and entertainment including Grayson Perry, Smack the Pony stars Fiona Allen and Doon Mackichan, Katherine Ryan and Munya Chawawa, Bill Bailey, Jack Dee and Amelia Dimoldenberg and Self Esteem.

Yeah, I fucking love it, it’s the best show on telly.
What is it that makes it so special?
It’s just so daft. Doing stupid shit for no reason is important to me, it’s part of my lifeblood. And lots of grown adults doing that makes me very happy.
