When I heard that American comedian David Cross was writing a comedy starring Stephen Mangan as an Englishman with two families who do not know about each other I assumed that one family would be in America, one in the UK. Maybe the budget didn't stretch that far. On the other hand there is plenty of additional tension as both families live in Bristol.
The first pictures have been released from the new Sky One comedy Bliss. The series stars Stephen Mangan (Episodes), Heather Graham (The Hangover I & III, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) and Jo Hartley (This Is England).
Written by Robert Delamere and Stephen Mangan, who also stars, Hang Ups is an unconventional comedy about an unconventional therapist trying to keep his unconventional life, and patients, from falling apart.

Sky Atlantic is making Bliss, a new six-part comedy written and directed by Emmy Award-winning US writer, director and performer David Cross (Arrested Development, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret).
The first episode of the new series of Episodes makes me think of gangsters. The phone ringing at the start reminded me of the phone ringing at the start of Once Upon A Time In America, while there’s an air of The Godfather in the way that Beverly (Tamsin Greig) and Sean (Stephen Mangan) get dragged back just as they thought they had escaped the horrors of the American TV industry.
Sharon Horgan and Stephen Mangan are pretty much established as two of our favourite comic actors. Horgan is riding high in C4's Catastrophe, Mangan is busy on various projects, including making Birthday for Sky Arts, a spin-off of Pregnant, the play he appeared in in which he plays a pregnant man. This interview dates from 2007 when they were shooting a pilot for a C4 sitcom set in the world of showbiz called Bitter and Twisted, but then changed to Free Agents. It ran for one series and deserved more.
