Netflix is set to increase its coverage of stand-up comedy with a major simultaneous global event in 2019.
The company plans to release shows from 47 comedians from 13 regions around the world on the same day. They will be half-hour shows, some of them to be filmed at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal this summer. Comedians featured will come from countries including Brazil, Mexico, India, Germany and The Netherlands as well as America and the UK.
After Romesh Ranganathan and his mum and Russell Howard and his mum, here comes Jack Whitehall and his dad Michael on a trip to the Far East – the gap year he never had crammed into five weeks. Of course, they’ve got previous, having already formed a successful broadcasting partnership on the talk show Backchat and the formula is repeated here - dad posh, curmudgeonly, son posh, innocent and well-meaning.
