News: Big Festival For England's Smallest City

Tommy Tiernan, Mark Watson and Nick Helm have been confirmed as the headliners for a three-day festival in Wells in Somerset to celebrate 10 years of the county’s Long Paws Comedy Club

Comics playing the festival from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 May also include Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner Tim Key, co-host of Radio 4’s Infinite Monkey Cage Robin Ince, Never Mind the Buzzcocks favourite Paul Foot, comedy maverick Simon Munnery and many more.

News: Mark Watson Axes Comedywealth Games

Mark Watson has announced this morning that his planned Comedywealth Games gigs at the Pleasance Theatre in London from next Monday will now not be going ahead. The show, which was due to run from March 9 - 11 and then on March 13 was going to feature guest comedians including Romesh Ranganathan and Paul Sinha taking part in alternative events such as "Fruit-Throwing" and "The Admin Pentathlon”.

News: Mark Watson Completes Epic Comic Relief Show

Mark Watson completed his epic 27 hour gig in aid of Comic Relief late last night at the Pleasance Theatre in north London. He raised £78,257 and donations are still coming in.

The show was peppered with special guests. Early on Gillian Anderson turned up and shaved comedian Tiernan Douieb's back using houmous as shaving foam. Towards the end Miranda Hart and Russell Brand arrived bearing ice creams. 

While onstage Brand addressed the exhausted audience saying: "you are the core of British culture tonight."

News: Mark Watson's Red Nose Day Marathon For Comic Relief

Details have been announced for Mark Watson's forthcoming Comic Relief epic. Watson is taking on a 27-hour Comedy Marathon for Red Nose Day. Kicking off on Friday 27th February at 9pm, he will be performing for a colossal 27 hours non-stop at the Pleasance Theatre in London to celebrate 27 years of Red Nose Day, and he’s calling on the great British public to get involved.

Preview: The Week Ahead Aug 4 - 10

The Edinburgh Festival is not the only comedy festival hitting the accelerator this week. London's Phoenix Fringe also boasts wall-to-wall wits competing for your pennies and attention. Their upcoming line-up includes a work-in-progress set from that nice and nerdy Mark Watson tonight and Robin Ince presenting a special edition of his Dirty Book Club on Saturday.

Opinion: How Long Can You Last Without A Drink?

I went to see Gina Yashere at the Udderbelly last night. Good fun, never less then entertaining, discussing everything from the Woolwich killing and the Ohio hostages to needing reading glasses and hovering above the toilet seat to avoid nasty germs. But being the pedant that I am I had one major gripe. The programme said that the show started at 9pm and the running time was 60 minutes.
