So many brilliant shows, so little time. On my last day at the Edinburgh Fringe I finally managed to catch Jo Neary's Wasp In A Cardigan, one of the shows that was on my to-see list four weeks earlier before I'd even arrived at the fringe.
And I was so glad I made it. Neary is one of those rare talents that isn't new and doesn't quite fit into a mainstream box and thus tends to get overlooked, although she did get a Perrier Best Newcomer award nomination back in 2004.
Emboldened by the success of the first series of her book-based podcast – as well as a mention in the ‘To Do List’ of the Upper Lowing Bugle – repressed housewife Celia Jesson returns with her dependable husband Fred and friends for a highly anticipated second series.
Character comedian Jo Neary is to launch a podcast in the guise of her cult character Celia Jesson entitled Wife on Earth.
Celia Jesson, a repressed housewife from Upper Lowing, has been encouraged to do a book-based podcast to promote the local library in nearby Lower Upping, because no one else wants to do it. It's too much of a time commitment.
