Filming has just wrapped on Is This Thing On? an upcoming romantic comedy set in the world of stand-up directed by Bradley Cooper that is based on a pivotal incident in the life of John Bishop.
The film is about a stand-up who starts doing comedy when his marriage is breaking down, which is how John Bishop has said he first got into showbusiness. The script is co-written by the star, Will Arnett, who reportedly met Bishop about ten years ago and was fascinated by his history.
Des Bishop’s comedy special, Of All People, is getting a second wind, coming out with re-release partner, 800 Pound Gorilla Media on October 22, 2024. Of All People is an hour of original stand-up and a culmination of years of experience on stage all over including in Queens, Ireland, and China. Bishop crafts high-energy stories and jokes, bringing the audience on a wildly entertaining ride through tales of his international travels and the gap between his looks and attitude.
On 2 October 2000, John Bishop stepped onto the stage at the Frog and Bucket in Manchester to perform his first ever comedy gig in front of just a handful people. John was working by day in the pharmaceutical industry, but that night, as he picked up the mic and performed for the very first time, he changed his life forever.
