Bill, the new film about the life of William Shakespeare from the stars of Horrible Histories, is to be released in the UK on September 18.
The movie stars Mathew Baynton as the struggling playwright and focuses on his "lost years" before he made it big at the Globe Theatre and in the court of Queen Elizabeth I. The script is written by Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond and the film co-stars Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Justin Edwards, Rufus Jones and Jim Howick. Helen McCrory plays Queen Elizabeth and Damien Lewis (McCrory's husband) has a cameo as Sir Richard Hawkins.
In the film hapless lute player 'Bill' Shakespeare dreams of hitting the big-time and his name living on for at least twenty years after his death. The action also includes a plot to kill the Queen.
