HarperCollins Drops David Walliams Backlist

HarperCollins drops David Walliams backlist

The Bookseller has reported that HarperCollins has dropped the backlist of best-selling children’s author and Little Britain star David Walliams.

This follows HarperCollins deciding not to publish any new Walliams work after allegations in December of “inappropriate behaviour”.and an investigation in the Telegraph. HarperCollins said at the time: “After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish any new titles by David Walliams. The author is aware of this decision."

A Walliams spokesperson told the BBC at the time he had “never been informed of any allegations raised against him” by his publisher: “He was not party to any investigation or given any opportunity to answer questions. David strongly denies that he has behaved inappropriately and is taking legal advice.”

HarperCollins stock will still be available to buy in various formats but The Bookseller says these will gradually be phased out.

The Bookseller has contacted Walliams’ agent for comment.

If you still want to buy Gangsts Granny it is available here.
