Award-winning comedian and writer Rosie Holt returns to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer with her brand-new show, The Illegal Aliens Have Landed! Revisiting her much-loved MP alter ego alongside a host of new characters, Holt blurs the line between politics and entertainment in a sharply observed new hour at Pleasance Two, Pleasance Courtyard, from 5th – 30thAugust at 6.30pm. Tickets are on sale now.
Holt revisits her much-loved MP alter ego as she confronts an entirely new and unexpected threat. A political satirist known for her precise eye on current affairs, Holt skewers familiar trends and narratives, offering sharp comic relief from the chaos of contemporary politics.
As debates continue around immigration policy and political image-making, an even greater challenge emerges when UFOs arrive. Will government response remain measured, or continue to insist it is “waiting for the facts” as extraterrestrials begin abducting and eating the British public? This science fiction-infused satire pushes familiar political responses to absurd extremes.
As one reviewer noted: “Can Holt’s comedy career survive the advent of a Labour government? On this evidence, you would fancy her chances.”
Widely recognised for her viral online videos, Holt has been satirising the political landscape since the pandemic, amassing more than nine million views. Alongside her writing and performance work, her credits include The Last Leg (Channel 4), The Russell Howard Hour (Sky Max), The Wrap (Sky News) BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Naked Week, Start of the Week, DM’s Are Open, POV, Please Use Other Door, Crossing the floor and Ashley Blaker’s Hyperfixations, amongst others.
Holt has previously toured two live shows, That’s Politainment! (2024) and The Woman’s Hour (2023), both inspired by her online characters. She has performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Soho Theatre, including a special election night performance in 2024. Rosie will continue touring The Illegal Aliens Have Landed! across cities throughout the UK.
With reality proving ever more unpredictable, Rosie Holt asks whether satire can still keep pace or whether it is simply reflecting the world as it unfolds. The Illegal Aliens Have Landed! runs at Pleasance Two, Pleasance Courtyard throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
