Will comedy legend Steve Martin appear on the final SNL UK on Saturday night?

Fans have been speculating on a possible appearance from the comedy legend after he posted a picture of himself in front of a lion in Trafalgar Square this week.

Martin was, however, cryptic about the location, writing: "Now posting from an unknown location."

And then later he posted a picture of himself in front of some union jack flags and a beanie hat with the word 'London' on it, writing: "Still off the grid, posting from an unknown location."

Astute fans did, however, suggest that there might be another reason for Martin being in London. The next series of the hit show Only Murders In The Building, co-starring Martin Short, is to be set in the UK and reports suggest that filming has just started or is about to start. 

Martin was not an official regular member of the original American SNL cast but appeared on the show more than 35 times and hosted it 16 times. He most recently hosted Saturday Night Live (the first time in 13 years), along with Only Murders in the Building co-star Martin Short on December 10, 2022.

The scheduled host of thsi final episode in the series is Rwandan-Scottish, BAFTA award-winning actor Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who, Sex Education, Barbie). He will be joined by indie-pop singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone.

The regular cast is Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young. 

The final edition of this series of Saturday Night Live UK airs on Sky One at 10pm One and streaming service NOW.. A second series has just been announced.
