Matt Berry To Be Oscars Announcer

Matt Berry To Be Oscars Announcer

Matt Berry is to be the announcer of this year's Oscars.

The Toast of London star will be taking part in the Academy Awards event that takes place this weekend on Sunday, March 15.

The announcement came as a shock to his fans on social media, with many thinking it was a joke at first until they saw that it was being announced by the official Academy Awards feed.

Berry is best known as Steven Toast, the struggling actor who often has to scrape a living doing voiceovers. The most recent series following Toast's misadventures, Toast of Tinseltown, found him moving to America to try to crack Hollywood.

Berry has also appeared in a number of comedy shows in America including Curb Your Enthusiasm and is a regular cast member of the vampire comedy What We Do In The Shadows.

Presenters will include Rose Byrne, Nicole Kidman, Jimmy Kimmel, Delroy Lindo, Ewan McGregor, Wagner Moura, Pedro Pascal, Bill Pullman, Lewis Pullman, Channing Tatum and Sigourney Weaver.

The host of the Oscars will be Conan O'Brien.

Oscars coverage in ITV1 will be presented by Jonathan Ross on Sunday, March 15, from 10.15pm.
