Richard Osman's House of Games this week features Rosie Ramsey, Nathan Bryon, Ruth Langsford and Spencer Matthews. So no stand-up comedians but two comedy-adjacent names.
Nathan Byron is best known for his appearances in Some Girls and Benidorm and was also a writer and co-creator of the Sky Comedy Bloods, about a group of stressed out paramedics which starred Samson Kayo, Jane Horrocks, Lucy Punch and Julian Barratt.
Rosie Ramsey is best known as the co-presenter, with her husband, stand up Chris Ramsey, of the podcast Shagged. Married. Annoyed. The podcast, charting the fun and games of their marriage, has been such a big hit it has spawned a massive arena tour and even helped them land their own BBC Two chat show where they talked to celebrity guests and tried to solve relationship problems. In 2020 they broke the record for the world’s biggest live podcast audience ever by selling out their hometown of Newcastle’s Utilita Arena.
Rosie Ramsey also appeared on Taskmaster earlier this year alongside Fatiha El-Ghorri (Live at the Apollo, BBC), American comedian, actor and podcaster Jason Mantzoukas (Big Mouth, Netflix), actor and writer Mathew Baynton (Ghosts, BBC One) and comedian, actor, podcaster and recent House of Games star, Stevie Martin.
Rosie also took part in Bake Off Stand Up To Cancer this year and with Chris even read a CBeebies bedtime story.
But will any of this help Rosie Ramsey or Nathan Byron win Richard Osman's House of Games? Comedians have a great track record, with Belfast-born Irish-Italian Vitorrio Angelone recently matching Angela Barnes' feat of winning all five shows in one week. No pressure of course...
