Al Murray's precious Pub Landlord outfit has been stolen. Murray is currently on tour and his rented silver Mercedes was broken into. The rear window was smashed and goods including the stage outfit were taken.

Murray broke the news on social media: "Congratulations to the thief who will soon be dressing up as the Pub Landlord. "

He also tagged the Metropolitan police in his post, but it appears from a follow up that the case has already been closed as there are no "proportionate leads that would enable the police to identify a suspect responsible for the crime or to successfully prosecute them".

Some comments saw the funny side and a number were surprised that the Pub Landlord drove a German car. James May posted: "Shouldn’t the Pub Landlord be driving a Rover?" to which Murray replied: "James, you think I drive myself? He has a cut and shut Jag/Daimler hybrid up on a bricks in a lock up he's forgotten the location of"

All is not lost though. Murray did reassure fans with tickets to his shows that he does have a number of spare Landlord outfits to fall back on: "many many many spares".

The incident happened in Brentford in case you see anyone in the vicinity looking like the Pub Landlord.
