There's a prettty good chance The Last Leg will be discussing the Commonwealth Games this week. And I would also imagine the Women's Euros will get a look in too as England play Germany in the final on Sunday after their brilliant victory in the semi-final against Sweden.
The show, fronted by Josh Widdicombe, Alex Brooker and Adam Hills, started off with a sporting agenda a decade ago, but tonight there will probably be a political agenda too. One of the guests is outspoken Labour MP Jess Phillips.
I wonder if they will mention Joe Lycett's "bit of banter" at the Games' opening ceremony in Birmingham when he said: "I'm going to do something now that the British government doesn't always do, and welcome foreigners." There has also been a BBC-in-Censorship row after it emerged that the BBC tweeted a clip of Lycett but cut it before he said that line and decided to focus more on his fluffy pink track suit than his political pronouncements.
He later followed up his naughty appearance by tagging the Home Secretary in a tweet: "soz @pritipatel just a bit of banter tehehe"
there might also be a discussion about gas prices and on a lighter note the programme might well touch on the all-star final episode of Neighbours which is broadcast in the UK this evening. As one person said on Twitter: "#isitok that @joshwiddicombe is going to miss the last ever episode of #Neighbours whilst getting ready for tonight's #TheLastLeg @TheLastLeg"?
In case viewers were unaware, Widdicombe published his first book recently entitled Watching Neighbours Twice a Day...: How ’90s TV (Almost) Prepared Me For Life. Buy it here.
The other main guest is Rylan Clark who is not exactly backwards when it comes to having opinions either, hence the hashtag #rylanforpm so expect a lively show and more #isitok suggestions from the veiwers via Twitter.
The Last Leg with guests Jess Phillips and Rylan Clark, Friday, July 29, 10pm, C4.
