Viewers were left confused when the screen went blank but the dialogue continued during a scene in a restaurant with Jack and Nikki during Monday's edition of Silent Witness. 

Patty tweeted: "Remember when #InsideNo9 made us all collectively switch off our tellies because we thought the live broadcast was faulty? #SilentWitness just pulled something similar. I nearly called the repair man. #idiot #plonker"

Emma tweeted: "hey could have shown the exact same date in a regular restaurant with Jack admitting how nervous he was and them actually being able to see each other I'm just..? Why do it like that? What was the point? #SilentWitness"

Debbie asked:"Did everyone have a blank screen during Nikki and Jack’s dinner date or was it just me??"

Pearla added: "Thought my TV had something wrong #SilentWitness. Switched to iPlayer "

Megan tweeted:"it’s hilarious that their date was in the pitch black #SilentWitness"

MartyJ was one of many who couldn;t work out that they were in a novelty restaurant with nolights: "TAF was that blackout interlude??"

Flora tweeted: "Pretty sure the viewing figures just took a momentary massive spike whilst everyone checked their picture worked"

Jonny Lee wrote: "Me telly's broke, it's gone dark....Hang on... it's back on again. What happened there ?"

Laura saw the funny side: "their first date and we can't see a fucking thing #silentwitness"

Pete Fox worked it out: "Haha, I thought my TV was being weird just now. It’s just them dining out in the dark. #SilentWitness"

But KG added: "The acting is no better for not being able to see it on the screen #SilentWitness"

Shirley tweeted:"Well that was a bit weird, it must be a secret where they had their date."

And Em posted: "as if the screen went black on nikki and jack’s date are you taking the piss #silentwitness"

H tweeted what a lot of viewers were thinking: "Well that was a weird scene ‘dine in the dark’ - was there a point to it? #SilentWitness"
