News: HBO Max Pulls James Veitch Show After Allegations Of Sexual Assault and Rape

Comedian James Veitch's HBO Max special has been removed following allegations of sexual assault and rape.

A number of women have made allegations regarding Veitch's behaviour when they were studying at Sarah Lawrence College when he was a graduate student over a decade ago.

Veitch has not commented publicly, but according to the Hollywood Reporter "a source close to him says he denies all allegations".

In the story in the Hollywood Reporter an HBO Max spokesperson said: “We were deeply disturbed to learn of these allegations of unacceptable behavior by James Veitch and will be removing the special from our platform for now.”

Production company Team Coco, which produced the special, said in a statement: "Team Coco takes these allegations very seriously and supports HBO Max's decision.”

Before he started to establish himself in America Veitch performed a number of live shows in the UK, including one where he took on online scammers. He has also fronted a successful Ted Talk.

Following the allegations in America UK-based comedians have also commented. One female comedian who had an encounter with him when she was a teenager did not accuse Veitch of any criminal act, but did call him a "predator".

At the time of writing Veitch's BBC Radio 4 series James Veitch's Contractual Obligation (pictured) is still available via the BBC's catch-up service here.
