News: Alice Levine Joins Museum of Curiosity

The next curator of The Museum of Curiosity will be Alice Levine, she joins John Lloyd as co-host for a new series starting 18:30, Monday 7 September on Radio 4 on BBC Sounds.

The Museum of Curiosity is a comedy show inviting the world’s most interesting guests to donate the exhibit of their choice to an infinite, imaginary museum. Guests adding to the display cases this series include acclaimed stand-up and actor Eddie Izzard, Emmy award-winning comedian Hannah Gadsby, chef Ainsley Harriott and the creator of Bridget Jones - best-selling author Helen Fielding. Also set to join Alice and John are wheelchair basketball champion Ade Adepitan, mathematician and pianist Dr Eugenia Cheng, journalist and broadcaster Ian Hislop plus many more.

Alice Levine is a former Radio 1 presenter and the co-creator of the smash-hit podcast My Dad Wrote A Porno, she is the 15th curator at the Museum with previous curators including Romesh Ranganathan, Sally Phillips, Lee Mack and Bridget Christie.

Alice Levine says: “Not since being made 'register monitor' in year 4 have I felt pride like this. Having received upwards of 247 promising out-of-office emails from the team in response to my applications over the years, it's with great relief and joy that they have seen fit to finally relent and hire me. Regarding enquiries about my controversial policy to remove the cress from the egg sandwiches in the museum cafe, no more questions at this time.”

John Lloyd CBE is the multi-award-winning producer behind The News Quiz, Blackadder, Spitting Image, Quote…Unquote, Not The Nine O'Clock News and QI. He has presented The Museum since its first series in 2008.

John Lloyd adds: “The appointment of top DJ, podcast legend and total dude Alice Levine as Curator instantly upgrades The Museum of Curiosity from merely the largest museum in the universe, to by far the coolest. Wrap up well. Gloves, thermals etc. And some sort of hat is probably in order.”

The Museum of Curiosity returns on Monday, 7 September, 6.30pm, Radio 4.
