News: Audience Tickets Available For All-Star Comedy Fundraiser

Following the decision by the Government to allow indoor events, the Clapham Grand has released a limited amount of ground floor tables to watch the second of three Save Live Comedy fundraising shows this Sunday, August 16. You can also watch it online.

The venue recently carried out a successful Government backed pilot live show meeting all the Government guidelines on Covid Safety. Please see further below for more info.

You can join in on all the fun FOR FREE, or – if you want the acts to see your laughing face – why not buy a Zoom ticket for the price of a pint and join the virtual front row which will appear on a big screen in front of the comedians on the night!

All funds raised go directly to Britain’s endangered live comedy scene, more info below.

Grab your Zoom tickets on the ‘support us’ page, or donate any amount to receive a direct link to the show.

Al Murray and Jayde Adams will be the comperes and the guests onstage will be Kerry Godliman / Dane Baptiste / Jessica Fostekew / Kwame Asante / Helen Bauer

Carl Donnelly / Rosie Jones / Don Biswas / Mawaan Rizwan / Holly Burn / Charlie Partridge

AND VIA SATELLITE LINK

Nish Kumar / Aisling Bea / Sue Gives A Fuck / Mick Ferry / Sarah Callaghan / Lucy Baker (Shesus & The Sisters) / Joe Lycett

The venue is asking comedians to nominate their favourite comedy clubs or promoters to support, as well as helping Top Secret Comedy Club, Gilded Balloon, The Stand, The Glee Club, Pleasance and The Clapham Grand itself. The venue will be working closely with the Save Live Comedy campaign and listening to their advice, and all acts are performing for absolutely free.

The Clapham Grand is giving their iconic venue space and expertise for free for these events. The South London variety theatre has been serving up comedy for 120 years and the stage was once the home of a little known act called Charlie Chaplin. In recent years Clapham Grand was where the first series of Taskmaster was recorded, Mo Gilligan Hosted four sell out shows here, Russell Howard performs his work-in-progress shows and just before the virus Clapham Grand started using their attic bar as a comedy club space ‘Upstairs At The Grand’.

There obviously are some costs involved with putting on shows this big, and they will be dealt with minimally, efficiently, and transparently.

COVID INFO

The venue has explained their current Covid policy: "The Clapham Grand is following all Government Guidelines with regards to Covid-19 safety. We are operating at a greatly reduced capacity, with the entire audience being physical distanced on seats and tables with waiting staff on hand for drinks service. We are providing a discounted pre-order drinks menu to purchase in advance alongside your ticket to minimise contact within the venue and to maximise speed of service.

We will be carrying out staggered entry times for all guests, temperature checks on entry, track and trace and we will have anti-bac available at all key points of the venue, with all staff wearing appropriate PPE. Facemasks aren’t obligatory for guests, but are of course welcome, and we will have some spare for anyone that get’s caught short without.

Due to current regulations on people socialising in bubbles, and the best way for us to manage our seating, we can only sell tickets in limited pairs, or tables of 3,4 & 6. We have excellent views throughout the venue, although of course the ground floor and front row of the balcony are the best and the price reflects this – but don’t worry, you still have great views elsewhere. Please make sure you all arrive in your group, at the designated arrival time in the ticket details – and please put in a pre-order for drinks when you buy your ticket to speed up service when you arrive and also save you some money."

Sunday, August 16, buy tickets here.
