The Greenwich Comedy Festival is to go ahead inSeptember with al fresco performances from stars including Bill Bailey, Sara Pascoe, Josh Widdicombe, Aisling Bea, Dylan Moran and more at the National Maritime Museum.

From Weds 23rd to Sun 27th September, the reimagined Greenwich Comedy Festival will trade its Big Top tent for an open air spectacle that once more presents the absolute best in comedy in a safe, enjoyable and new-look socially distanced environment.

To celebrate this momentous occasion the stars are out in full force, including virtuoso BILL BAILEY, The Last Leg’s JOSH WIDDICOMBE, Irish master of grumpiness DYLAN MORAN, the multi-award winning SARA PASCOE, the supersonic wit of DARA O’BRIAIN, British Comedy Award winner AISLING BEA, The Mash Report’s NISH KUMAR, Taskmaster champ LOU SANDERS, Qi’s ALAN DAVIES, Have I Got News For You star SINDHU VEE, fast-rising PHIL WANG plus many many more.

Tickets to this year’s event will be sold in pairs with audiences seated on chairs in socially distanced plots in the stunning setting of the Queen’s House and National Maritime Museum. Performances will take place on a huge domed stage with large LED screens bringing audiences closer to an incredible line-up of comedy marvels, guaranteeing socially distanced silliness come rain, wind or shine.

Now in its 12th year, the much-lauded event will naturally look a bit different. Closely following Government guidelines, additional safety measures will be in place such as staggered arrival times and gate points, one-way walkways, mandatory face coverings, additional hygiene facilities and practices, and PPE-adorned staff.

This year, instead of the usual bars, street-food stalls and intervals, ticket holders can pre-select everything they need for an incredible night out. When buying tickets audiences can choose one of the all-new drink & snack bundles bursting with a tasty selection from some of the UK’s finest creators. Featuring Meantime craft beer, Edinburgh Gin, Cawston Press, Propercorn, Pipers Crisps and more all packed in a snazzy Greenwich Comedy Festival cotton tote bag, these bundles of goodies will keep taste buds as tickled as sides.

The Greenwich-raised sibling Producers Will Briggs and Cass Randolph agree that this upcoming event is probably the most significant year for them. “There’s no doubt the live events sector has been hit incredibly hard by this year’s events and we weren’t sure what would be possible. But we’ve been watching and waiting, and after months of careful planning, we are now so motivated and excited to bring this reimagined event to life at the National Maritime Museum. Everyone has been determined to make this happen and help get the stand-up world back on its feet. We’ve been working very closely with the local council, the venue and suppliers to make sure we deliver an event that is safe for everyone, while still being enjoyable - and above all very funny!”

Greenwich Comedy Festival was launched in 2009 by sibling team Will Briggs and Cass Randolph – step-children of the infamous comedy promoter, exhibitionist and South East London legend Malcolm Hardee. The festival fast became a highlight in London’s comedy calendar gaining a reputation for delivering meticulously curated comedy shows, starring the biggest and brightest names in stand-up, in a vibrant festival setting.
