News: New Podcast Invites Comics To Talk about Their Favourite Books

Early on in lockdown writer and comedy producer Lucy Danser teamed up with Digital Producer Sideburn Panda to create a new podcast interviewing comedians about the books that have been significant to them throughout their lives. A sort of literary Desert Island Discs where all the guests are comedians or comedy writers.

The first seven episodes are now live on all good podcasting platforms and feature guests including Laura Lexx, Sindhu Vee and rapper and comedian Ben Bailey Smith (otherwise known as Doc Brown). Upcoming guests include author and comedian Njambi McGrath whose memoir has just been optioned for TV development, Jessica Fostekew (Hoovering podcast, The Guilty Feminist podcast, BBC’s Motherland, QI) Candian comic Dana Alexander (BBC’s Russell Howard’s Good News) and Pope Lonergan, comedian and creator of Pope’s Addiction Clinic.

Lucy Danser is a writer and comedy producer. Previous shows include Stand Up & Slam, Rob Carter is Christopher Bliss and roles include programming Camden Comedy Club for the past six years. Sideburn Panda is a company specialising in digital for heritage and the arts. It is run by Producer Joseph Bell whose credits include the Odd Taste and Jim’s Celeb Blender comedy pilots for BBC Taster and the social short-form series Talking Balls for BBC Three.
