This is a massive deal for the local Oxford comedy club that sees them booking comedy on a national drive in tour.

The partnership will see stand-up comedians heading back to work to perform live in front of hundreds of cars in car parks and at airports across England Scotland and Wales from Edinburgh Zoo to Brighton Marina and Birmingham Airport. The drive in shows, organised by MainStage festival under the banner of ‘@thedrivein’, will be driving along to 14 locations between July and October. From Greenwich in London to Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Cardiff, Bristol, East London, Southampton and Brighton.

Comedians booked by Jericho Comedy include Ivo Graham, Brennan Reece, Lou Sanders, Ahir Shah, Andrew Maxwell, Ian Smith, Laura Lexx, Nigel NG, Lauren Pattison & Rosie Jones as well as Monkey Barrel Comedy Club booking in the shows for Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Tickets can be bought at https://www.atthedrive.in.

@thedrivein shows across the UK offers entertainment in each location from Jericho’s offering of stand-up comedy every Friday night to musical bingo, silent discos and family games, all as pre-film entertainment. 80's classics and 2010's blockbusters films will be on show from A Star is Born, to Back To The Future, Grease, Joker, The Lion King, Toy Story, Jaws and appropriately for a drive in cinema, Pixar’s Cars.

Using the radio transmission kit from the biggest US Drive in Cinemas, the sound will be broadcast straight to your car’s radio, while a top of the range LED screen provides the best quality visual experience. Food and snacks will be available to order online through a mobile app and, in true 50s drive-in fashion, roller waiters will bring your order to a drop off point by your car. Cars parked over 2m apart will provide naturally built-in social distancing, and there will be extra measures in place to ensure the experience is in line with government guidelines.

During Lockdown in lieu of physical comedy nights Jericho Comedy has been running digital shows as well as an online comedy festival through Next Up with Mark Watson, now that government restrictions allow drive ins they’ve set their sights on drive in comedy. They join the likes of the Comedy Store, Rotunda comedy club in Glasgow and Mark Watson’s Carpool comedy club as the first comedy venues to offer drive in comedy.

As well as booking national drive in shows alongside @thedrivein, Jericho Comedy isalso running their own drive in comedy clubs in Oxford. The first comedy shows in Oxford will be on 17th, 18th & 25th  July at the Oxford Artisan Distillery (T.O.A.D.). All of which sold out within 24 hours of tickets going online. There will be free hand sanitiser provided at these shows, distilled in the same still that T.O.A.D. use to distill their award winning sustainable locally sourced rye whiskey, gin, and vodka. There will be a one way system on site and marshals to park cars and monitor toilets to make an evening of American style drive in comedy as safe as possible. Each car will have a bluetooth device on the dash to allow audio to be heard even with closed windows meaning the shows are rain proof and don’t require people to get out of their cars.
