News: Comedian Jen Brister Longlisted for Book Prize

Comedian Jen Brister has made the longlist for the Polari Prize for LGBTQ+ literature for her book The Other Mother: A Wickedly Honest Parenting Tale for Every Kind of Family by Jen Brister (Square Peg).

The book is Brister's account of becoming a parent to twins with her partner and the stresses and joys that followed.

Brister tweeted: "Very chuffed that my book has been included in the @PolariPrize longlist alongside such a talented group of authors."

The shortlist will be announced at an event on the South Bank in London on July 31.

The Polari First Book Prize is sponsored by award-winning arts communications company FMcM Associates, with the winner receiving a cheque for £1,000. The submission fee is £15.

The Polari Prize is sponsored by D H H Literary Agency, with the winner receiving a cheque for £2,000. The submission fee is £25.​

Writers must be born or based in the UK and Ireland.
