News: More Comedy Companies Receives Lifeline Grants

The final has taken place of this year's Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competition at the Leicester Comedy Festival.

Comedians chosen by promoters around the UK competed for the prestigious title previously won by stars including Josh Widdicombe, Johnny Vegas, Seann Walsh, Rhod Gilbert, Miles Jupp and Jason Manford.

DJ Geoff Lloyd and previous winner Tom Rosenthal commentated on the event for a live broadcast on Union Jack Radio.

The final took place at The Y Theatre in Leicester.

And the winner, chosen by a panel of expert judges, is Eric Roy Rushton. 

Second place went to Matt Bragg. Third place went to Louise Young.

The Leicester Comedy Festival 2020 finishes on Sunday.
