News: New BBC Comedy Appointments
BBC Studios Production has made two new appointments to its Comedy audio team. Claire Broughton becomes Executive Producer and writer Leila Navabi joins as Producer

Claire Broughton joins from Hat Trick, where she worked as a Development Producer on projects such as Episodes, The Armstrong and Miller Show and Spy. She produced the BBC Radio 4 series Before They Were Famous and God’s Work and was Associate Producer on Boomers for BBC One. Prior to joining Hat Trick, Claire worked at Potboiler Productions and Thin Man Films on a variety of projects including The Constant Gardener and Mike Leigh’s Vera Drake. Before this she worked at Big Talk Productions as part of the production team on Spaced and Black Books.

The audio team is part of BBC Studios Comedy, which produces award-winning programmes like Inside No. 9 and Famalam and the recent Ladhood which was adapted from the Radio 4 series for BBC Three. It makes a wide range of comedy and entertainment shows and podcasts including The News Quiz, Just a Minute and Newsjack, giving many writers and performers their first broadcast experience. It also makes podcasts such as Jacob Hawley: On Drugs and The Asian Network’s But.. Where Are You Really From? , which are currently on BBC Sounds.

Leila Navabi will work with other producers across a range of BBC Studios output from the long-running much-loved shows such as Radio 4’s The Now Show through to working with talent at the start of their broadcasting career – for example the likes of Darren Harriot, Sindhu Vee and Twayna Mayne; working with brand new comedy writers on 4 Extra’s Newsjack, as well as developing her own ideas.

Julia McKenzie, Creative Director, Audio said “I’m delighted that Claire is joining BBC Studios and bringing her experience and creativity to our audio team. It’s a really exciting time as we continue to produce a diverse range of comedy and entertainment shows and podcasts, develop talent and launch new voices. It’s also great to have Leila with us, bringing her unique perspective and writing.”
