News: Jerry Seinfeld Does Surprise Set In London

Superstar stand-up Jerry Seinfeld has performed an intimate suprise show at the Soho Theatre.

The gig was a warm up for his upcoming four shows at the Eventim Apollo – two on July 12, two on July 13.

These are his first shows in the capital since he appeared at the 02 Arena in 2011.

The show the 65-year-old sitcom legend is bringing to London is the show he has recently been performing at the Beacon Theatre in New York, but he said in an exclusive interview with the Evening Standard that he aimed to do a warm-up show in London before his big shows to acclimatise and check that his cultural references work on this side of the Atlantic. He was keen to know if we had Pop Tarts in the UK. Last time round he popped up at the Comedy Store for a short spot, but this time he tried out his full show in the late-night slot at the Soho Theatre.

Seinfeld is not the first huge American star to perform at the Soho Theatre. Last year Amy Schumer did a low-key late night show at the same venue.
