News: Katherine Ryan To Headline Latitude Festival

News: Date Confirmed for Katherine Ryan Netflix Special

Katherine Ryan has been named as one of the headline comedy acts at this year's Latitude Festival. The stand-up superstar will appear at the festival on Saturday.

Major comedy names already announced include Michelle Wolf, Frank Skinner and Jason Manford

The 14th edition of the festival takes place in the grounds of Henham Park, Suffolk, across 18th-21st July 2019. Weekend and day tickets on sale here.

Brand new for 2019, Latitude is pleased to announce The Listening Post which will see podcasts elevated to prime position with whole stage dedicated to this diverse and creative art-form.  Cariad Lloyd headlines the bill with British Podcast Awards’ Podcast of the Year 2018, Griefcast. Cariad will be joined by three comedians to talk awkward funeral songs to whether there is an afterlife; cheerier than it sounds! The first wave of podcasts announced today include David Olshanetsky, “The Voice of Generation Z” and creator of The Shitney Spears, presenting David’s Out For A Good Time, comedian Dane Baptiste Questions Everything with a range of guests.

Latitude can exclusively reveal that the hilarious comedic love letter to Broadway and the West End Amusical will now come in podcast form, launched live from The Listening Post. The multi-award-winning sitcom about about rival funeral directors, Wooden Overcoats also joins the bill, alongside gritty investigative journalism show The Tip OffGhibliotheque which leafs through the library of the world’s greatest animation studioStudio Ghibli, and Rule of Three, hosted by Britain’s busiest comedy writers, Joel Morris and Jason Hazeley. In the Music & Film Arena, John Kennedy interviews a very special guest for a live edition of Tape Notes.

 An eclectic range of award-winning writers, poets and thinkers will perform across the arts stages, and other prestigious talent is announced today. HeadliningThe Speakeasy are Man Booker shortlisted novelist, poet and playwright Deborah Levy, renowned for her witty and dark explorations of complex female relationships, and one of the most exciting new voices to emerge in print in the last decade, Max Porter, author of Grief is the Thing with Feathers, makes his Latitude debut to read from his second novel, Lanny. The Women’s Prize For Fiction return to The Speakeasy with Viv Groskop, Scarlet Curtis and Bernadine Evaristo.

The British Academy come to the festival for the first time. The newly crowned UK Poet Laureate Simon Armitage tops the poetry bill alongside Joe Dunthorne, best known as the novelist behind Submarine, and The Adulterants, set to perform pieces from his funny and dark debut poetry collection, O Positive. Elsewhere performance poet extraordinaire Luke Wright makes a welcome return alongside World Poetry Slam Champion and Ted X speaker Harry Baker, and NCW Associate Artist Hannah Jane Walker presents her much-anticipated stage show Highly Sensitive.

Even more eclectic music names join today’s announcement including LP also known as Laura Pergolizzi, the singer-songwriter whose break-out global hit ‘Lost On You’ topped the charts and catapulted her to stardom in 13 countries, plus Suffolk based community choir Pop Chorus, both of which are added to BBC Sounds Stage. Elsewhere Scandi-duo Anna of The North headline The Lake Stage, and Stockholm’s unruly post-punks Viagra Boys headline The Alcove Stage.
