Red Imp Comedy Club has teamed up with Soho private members club The Union for a new West End monthly comedy club.
Comedians Mary Bourke, Ian Stone and Susan Murray will launch the opening night of the Union Sessions: Red Imp Comedy Club on Thursday 23rd May 2019. Tickets are available to non-members for £15 + booking fees
The legendary Union Club, whose rooms have seen the likes of Grayson Perry and Terry Jones relishing a drink or two over the years, will be offering a special pre-show dinner menu that can be enjoyed on their secluded roof terrace. The Union, at 50 Greek Street, is a Soho institution that has its own unique style, food and ethos – Stan Mytkowski, Artistic Director comments, “We are delighted to be opening our doors for some edgy and provocative talented comedy stars and for non-member to gain a glimpse of this well kept Soho secret space”.
Award winning Irish comic and playwright Mary Bourke, who has been described by GQ as "one of the best female acts in the country'' and ''savage and lyrical'' by The New Statesman will be headlining.
Writer, broadcaster and Comedy Store regular Ian Stone takes time out from presenting the Comedy Breakfast show on Love Sport Radio to enthral The Union audience with the finest topical and satirical gags. Ranked amongst the top ten stand-ups in Britain by The Independent and a multi award winning radio show on Absolute Radio, Ian has found time to write his first book, ’To Be Someone’ which is due to be published in November 2019.
Susan Murray, who also runs the Red Imp Comedy Club in Walthamstow, will bring her blistering wit and wisdom throughout the night as she comperes. Noted as a “Feisty fire-headed pocket rocket “Broadway Baby and “Has the ability to make quirky connections allows her to build a compelling believable and richly funny picture of 21st century womanhood. Anyone who loves the work of Sarah Millican and Kerry Godliman will find plenty to enjoy here” The Guardian.
