The Secondary Phase vinyl (episodes 7 – 12) is available to buy now with pre-orders open for the Tertiary Phase vinyl (episodes 13 – 18), releasing on 11th January 2019.

‘Fans loved Primary Phase on vinyl and the Amazon exclusive sold out in five hours so we’re delighted to be releasing two more titles for Hitchhikers listeners across the galaxy.’ Ben Stanley, Head of Product & Marketing, Demon Music Group

Both releases are also available as limited editions with a run of only 500 copies for each:

·         Secondary Phase includes a limited 12” x 12” print signed by Paddy Kingsland (Composer, BBC radiophonic workshop)

·         Tertiary Phase includes a limited 12” x 12” print signed by Dirk Maggs (Director and Co-producer)

The collectable volumes will also feature specially commissioned artwork and sleeve notes and 180g heavyweight orange (Secondary) and green (Tertiary) vinyl discs, presented in illustrated wallets inside a rigid, bound 20-page book.

SECONDARY PHASE:

Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect have been stranded on Prehistoric Earth since the end of the first series and find themselves, once again, attempting to hitchhike a ride off the planet. When they are finally reunited with Zaphod, the three heroes travel on a ship, the Heart of Gold, to the planet of Brontitall. Here they discover the indigenous species, the Bird People, who live in the right ear of a fifteen-mile-high statue of Arthur himself, of course.

TERTIARY PHASE:

When Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect hitch a lift away from Prehistory on a Chesterfield sofa, it’s the beginning of a galactic quest that takes in Lord’s Cricket Ground, deadly cricket bat-wielding robots, a spaceship that looks like an Italian bistro, a planet of sentient mattresses, a wretched soul who keeps being murdered, a giant spaceborne computer, and much, much, more. Reunited with Marvin, Zaphod, Trillian and Slartibartfast, they must prevent the Krikkitmen from retrieving the WikkitKey and unleashing terror upon the Universe.

Starring Peter Jones as The Book (with William Franklyn in Tertiary Phase), with Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, Geoffrey McGivern as Ford Prefect, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox, and Stephen Moore as Marvin the Paranoid Android, with sound effects by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop (Secondary Phase) and music by Philip Pope and Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (Tertiary Phase). Guest casts across the two releases include: Bill Paterson, John Le Mesurier, Ken Campbell, Valentine Dyall, Rula Lenska, Bill Wallis, Alan Ford, Jonathan Pryce, RichardGriffiths, Leslie Phillips, Joanna Lumley, Toby Longworth, Michael Fenton Stevens, Henry Blofeld, Fred Trueman and the voice of Douglas Adams himself.

The original radio series went on to inspire book, stage, TV and film adaptations.
