News: John Bluthal Dies

Comic actor John Bluthal has died. He was 89.

Bluthal was most famous to modern contemporary sitcom fans for playing parish council secretary Frank Pickle in The Vicar of Dibley. But before then he had an illustrious comedy career, appearing in Carry On films, Pink Panther films and Spike Milligan's television programmes. He was also the co-star of the 1960s sitcom Never Mind The Quality, Feel The Width.

He also appeared in the unofficial 1967 James Bond film Casino Royale, The Beatles' A Hard Day's Night and Help, Superman III and the 2016 George Clooney film Hail, Caesar.

Dibley star Dawn French paid tribute to Bluthal, tweeting: "Tons of happy laughs remembered today. Cheeky, naughty, hilarious. Bye darlin Bluey."
