News: Rob Rouse, Pippa Evans & John Thomson Join Gareth Malone Quiz Show

Comedians Rob Rouse, Pippa Evans and John Thomson are among the panellists for BBC Two special Gareth Malone’s All Star Music Quiz. They join former MP Ed Balls (on piano), award winning saxophonist YolanDa Brown, plus TV presenter and former member of JLS, JB Gill (on piano) joining the nation’s favourite choirmaster for musical frivolities as part of BBC Music Day celebrations. Musical Director for the show is Richard Beadle, who is currently presiding over West End smash-hit Hamilton. Rouse and Evans play guitar, Thomson is an accomplished drummer.

Gareth Malone’s All Star Music Quiz is a special for BBC Music Day, where Gareth challenges two celebrity teams to play the answer, as well as say it. The show tests their skill and knowledge across all music genres, with something for everyone and for viewers to play along with at home. 

Malone said: “I’m so excited to be hosting my very own music quiz show on BBC Two - it’s going to be a lot of fun and, of course, a perfect accompaniment to celebrating BBC Music Day. So much of my work and passion is to bring people together to make a difference to their lives through music so I’m also extremely honoured to be a BBC Music Day Ambassador.”

BBC Music Day is an annual celebration of the power of music to change lives which takes place on Friday 28 September. This pan-BBC initiative across television, radio and online features live music events and performances across the UK involving famous musicians, choirs and local community music groups. 

Gareth Malone’s All Star Music Quiz is made by Twenty Twenty, part of the Warner Bros. International Television Production group. Executive producer is Lisa Clark, series producer is Toby Brack. It was commissioned by Sarah Clay, BBC Commissioning Editor, Entertainment for BBC Two, and James Stirling, Head of Content Commissioning, BBC Music. Rhonagh O’Donnell is executive producer for the BBC.
