News: London Podcast Festival Line-Up Revealed

The full programme has been announced for the 3rd London Podcast Festival, which takes place at Kings Place from 7–9 Sep & 13–16 September 2018.

Across two weekends, the world’s top podcasters will gather to present unique live versions of their hit shows and discuss the latest news and innovations in this booming art form. 

An early innovator in hosting live podcasts, they’ve been a key part of the programme at Kings Place since 2011 and this year the Evening Standard declared it ‘the No 1 place in the UK to watch live podcasts’. Now in its third year and bigger and better than ever, the London Podcast Festival is an unprecedented opportunity to meet your favourite podcasters and discover your new must-listen show all under one roof.

With more special guest announcements still to come, 2018 confirmed highlights already include: 

  • A special live recording of Paul F. Tompkins completely improvised SPONTANEANATION with wildly talented special guests and accompanist Eban Schletter (15 Sep)
  • An unmissable one-of-a-kind Characters of Earwolf event with favourite characters from Hello From Magic Tavern, Superego, SPONTANEANATION and more answering your burning questions in character – featuring Paul F Tompkins, Matt Gourley, Tawny Newsome, Amanda Lund, Mark McConville and others (16 Sep)
  • Cameron Esposito (the comedian behind the extraordinary 2018 stand-up special
    Rape Jokes) and some of the brightest luminaries in the LGBTQ+ family sharing stories in Queery (13 Sep)
  • Your chance to get up close and personal with your favourites in an all-star ‘ask anything’ Q&A with a panel of Earwolf network favourites, including Cameron Esposito, Chris Gethard, Bryan Safi and Erin Gibson (Throwing Shade, pictured), hosted by Janet Varney

  • Stand-up heroes Josie Long and Robin Ince getting literary in Book Shambles as they use the written word to springboard into ludicrous, passionate chats about science, philosophy and everything in between, whilst the award-winning Mostly Lit sees
    Alex Reads, Raifa Rafiq and Derek Owusu in an electrifying cultural conversation that jumps seamlessly from Gatsby to Grime.
  • A one-off live performance of deadpan cult classic Beef and Dairy Network Podcast created exclusively for the festival
  • A look at the glorious and inglorious history of the beautiful game in Top Flight Time Machine (dubbed ‘like listening to Derek and Clive watch Match of the Day’) and
    a grapple with the most bizarre sporting spectacle of all in Wrestle Me! (9 Sep)
  • Annika Allen in conversation with brilliant and resilient British Black women as a teaser for the upcoming second series of Black Magic Podcast (13 Sep)

Following its debut last year, the Festival is thrilled to present an expanded Podcast Maker Weekend (15-16 Sep) – a must for podcasters at any stage in their career, offering invaluable advice from the pros on everything from voice training to microphone tech, pitching your
big idea to keeping a long-running series fresh.
