Barry Chuckle, real name Barry Elliott, of comedy duo The Chuckle Brothers has died. He was 73.

His manager said: "It is with great sadness that the family announce that Barry passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Ann and all his family. The family would like to express their thanks to the many people who have been fans of the Chuckle Brothers and they know that they will share in part the great, great loss they feel."

His brother Paul said: "I've not just lost my brother, I've lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend."

The duo was best known for their BBC children's programme Chucklevision and had recently returned to TV to present the clips show Chuckle Time on Five.
