News: Vigil To Be Held For Murdered Comedian Eurydice Dixon

A vigil is to be held in Princes Park in Melbourne, where comedian Eurydice Dixon was murdered earlier this week on her way home from a gig.

Victorian State Premier Daniel Andrews tweeted: "In a few days, women across Melbourne will hold a vigil in Princes Park for the life of Eurydice Dixon. They will do so firm in the knowledge that Eurydice died because of her attacker's decisions – not because of her own. They're right. And we need to accept that fact, too."

Local people and friends have been leaving flowers in the park where Dixon's body was found.

The vigil will take place on Monday at 5.40 pm local time.

A gofundme campaign to help Dixon's family was set up by Luka Muller, who was friends with Dixon through the Melbourne comedy scene. The aim was to raise $1000. It has now raised over $55,000.

19-year-old Jaymes Todd has been charged with Dixon's rape and murder.
