News: TV Show For Mo Gilligan

Social media superstar Mo Gilligan is to host his own one-off non-broadcast pilot for Channel 4. Mo’s Town will be an hour of comedy, sketches, music, celebrity guests and audience interaction.

Gilligan will be at the helm of a vibrant, high energy comedy entertainment extravaganza as he is joined by a variety of guests including fellow comedian and the man behind Big Shaq, Michael Dapaah.

Filming at Peckham Levels, this aims to harness the dynamism and joy of his critically acclaimed stand up shows to present a fast paced, irreverent and comical hour of fun and games which will also see appearances from all his well-known characters and a raft of VT sketches.

Mo’s Town was commissioned by Head of Entertainment, Ed Havard and Syeda Irtizaali, Commissioning Editor for Entertainment alongside Becky Cadman, Commissioning Editor for Factual Entertainment at Channel 4. It is a Tiger Aspect production and the Executive Producers are Kate Edmunds and Richard Ackerman.

Syeda Irtizaali, Commissioning Editor for Entertainment at Channel 4 said, “We are delighted to have landed the extraordinary Mo Gilligan hot off the back of his sell out tour. His high-octane style, comedic instincts and total understanding of his audience is reflected brilliantly in the very inventive, very funny and thoroughly modern Mo’s Town. He is an astonishing talent and we are thrilled to have him on the channel.”

Kate Edmunds at Tiger Aspect added, “Continuing Tiger Aspect’s history of collaborating with the best and brightest comedians, we’re over the moon to be working with the charismatic force of nature that is Mo Gilligan and opening the doors to ‘Mo’s Town’. Mo is a rare, unique talent so it makes total sense that he should find a home at Channel 4.”

Mo Gilligan said, “I grew up watching Channel 4, walking past the building every day on my way to school. So it's nuts to try and get my head around the fact that I’m now making a show with them. I’m so excited to bring what I do to the Channel!”
