News: Melbourne International Comedy Festival Awards Results

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival has announced its award winners today.

The winner of the highest prize, the prestigious Barry Award for Best Show, is Sam Campbell (pictured).

The Best Newcomer award went to Danielle Walker.

This year’s Directors’ Choice award went to Laura Frew and Michelle Brasier for their Double Denim Adventure Show.

The People’s Choice Award for most tickets sold across the 2018 Festival was won by comedy veterans Lano & Woodley.

The Pinder Prize, honouring the late Comedy Festival co-founder John Pinder is awarded to Demi Lardner.

The Golden Gibbo Award winner, given to an independent show, presented in memory of Lynda Gibson is Cam Venn in Charles Horse Lays an Egg.

The Piece of Wood Award or comics’ choice goes to Heath Franklin.
