News: Dale Winton Dies

TV host Dale Winton has died. He was 62.

Winton's agent issued a statement confirming the sad, shocking news: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today. While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time of grief."

Tributes have been flooding in from the world of showbiz for the man best known as the host of ITV's Supermarket Sweep. Graham Norton tweeted: "Dale Winton gave me the best bit of showbiz advice I ever got - Don’t quit the hit! Thank you Dale. X"

Jack Whitehall tweeted: "Desperately sad news about Dale Winton. A really funny and kind person gone too soon, RIP."

Lisa Maxwell wrote: "So sad to hear about Dale Winton .A lovable and warm entertainer . Thanks for letting me go Wild In Your Aisles . RIP lovely Dale."

Adil Ray added: "Very sad to hear of the passing of Presenter, Dale Winton. He personified warmth. A very special presence on air, both radio & TV. Taken away far too young at just 62. Thoughts with his family and friends. x x x"

Les Dennis tweeted: "So sad and shocked to hear that Dale Winton has died. He was a lovely,warm man who posed charm. RIP"

In 1994 Winton appeared on Stewart Lee and Richard Herring's Radio One show Fist of Fun and cured Herring of "The Curse Of Supermarket Sweep".
