Matt Lucas is to turn on the festive lights in Hay-On-Wye on November 24.

On the same day he will be reading from his autobiography, Little Me, My Life From A-Z, and dicscussing his career at a ticketed event which is part of the Hay Festival Winter Weekend.

As half of Little Britain alongside David Walliams, Lucas was famous for playing Welsh homosexual Dafydd, 'the only gay in the village'.

Lucas has also worked with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer on The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer and Shooting Stars, where he played giant baby George Dawes. 

He appeared onstage in Les Miserables and has been in many successful films and TV shows, including Alice in Wonderland, Bridesmaids, Paddington, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Doctor Who.

Lucas recently said that he would not make jokes about transvestites and would avoid playing black characters if he remade Little Britain.

The comedian was speaking to the Big Issue: “If I could go back and do Little Britain again, I wouldn’t make those jokes about transvestites. I wouldn’t play black characters. Basically, I wouldn’t make that show now. It would upset people. We made a more cruel kind of comedy than I’d do now."

He is due to reunite with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer for their BBC Christmas special. During filming earlier this year Lucas tweeted: "Reunited with Vic and Bob today! Filming with them for the first time in 8 years. Was magical. Always is. Ps yes I'm Rag'nBone Man."
