News: Daytime Game Show-Meets-Murder Mystery For Susan Calman

Susan Calman has been confirmed as the presenter of brand new BBC One daytime show Armchair Detectives.

Due for broadcast later this year, the series - which combines a murder mystery drama with a gameshow - will transport three players and viewers at home to the fictional town of Mortcliff where a dastardly crime has been committed. Their task: to discover whodunnit.

The show is a play along and immersive investigation that can be enjoyed every step of the way. Like any good quiz, crime is crammed with titillating reveals, but as the drama unfolds, more suspects and clues will come to light. With their critical thinking put to the test will players and viewers be able to identify the killer?

Calman says: “I'm so excited to be presenting Armchair Detectives for BBC One Daytime. I love a TV crime drama and now I get to help the British public and the contestants in the studio solve one! I can't wait to get started and get solving!”

Jo Street, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment and Daytime, said: "Susan's mischievous sense of humour and background as a lawyer gives her means, motive and opportunity to be the perfect host for this dramatic new whodunnit show."

The series was commissioned by Dan McGolpin, BBC Controller of Programming & Daytime and Jo Street, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment and Daytime. It was developed by Tiger Aspect Productions and will be series produced by Carly Brooks and exec produced by Richard Ackerman.

The Scottish comedian also fronts BBC One daytime quiz The Boss, which returned to screens yesterday (Monday 11 September at 2.15pm) and can currently be seen in Strictly Come Dancing.
