News: Tributes Flood In For Showbiz Legend Bruce Forsyth

Tributes have been flooding in for showbiz legend Sir Bruce Forsyth, who has died, aged 89.

Fans from all walks of life have been paying homage to one of the all-time great all-round entertainers.

Politician Vince Cable write: "Sad day with death of Bruce Forsyth. Privileged to work with him on Xmas . Warm kind and utterly professional man."

Barbara Windsor issued a statement: "This is the end of a showbusiness era and the last of the truly all round great entertainers that this country has ever produced. I am so sad as I was a massive fan and was in awe of his professionalism. I was lucky enough to know him and was thrilled to be at his last book launch. He will be so sadly missed by all in showbusiness and his millions of fans. God bless you Bruce and my thoughts are with his beautiful wife Wilnelia who made him so very happy and his family."

Harry Hill said: "This is a very sad day. As a child of the 70s, Bruce Forsyth was like a God to me. Few people have made us laugh so much for so long. I was lucky enough to meet him and found him an incredibly sweet and thoughtful man. I've missed his presence on TV for the last few years and like all his fans I was hoping for one last encore."

Rob Brydon tweeted: "So sad to hear about Sir Bruce Forsyth. A true one off, a wonderful entertainer. My condolences to his family."

Sir Elton John said: "So sad to hear about the death of the legendary Bruce Forsyth. It was such an honour to work with him - a brilliant comedian, television host and a lovely man. A treasured part of my life since I was a young boy. My condolences to Wilnelia and his family."

Jeremy Corbyn tweeted: "Sad to hear of Sir Bruce Forsyth's death. A tireless charity campaigner, Sir Bruce was Mr Saturday Night and it was always nice to see him."

Michael Parkinson wrote: "He loved being a star. He loved making people laugh. He loved entertaining people. All those clichés of that kind of era and that kind of life were true in his case. There wasn’t a phoney part of him. He was true and true vaudeville like a stick of rock."

The BBC paid tribute to Sir Bruce Forsyth by changing their schedules and broadcasting a special primetime documentary about him instead of The One Show. Watch it here.
