Comedian Kathy Griffin has apologised for a picture in which she was featured holding up President Donald Trump's severed head.
The picture was widely condemned by politicians from both sides of the political divide. Chelsea C;inton wrote: "This is vile and wrong. It is never funny to joke about killing a president."
Donald Trump Jnr tweeted: "Disgusting but not surprising. This is the left today. They consider this acceptable. Imagine a conservative did this to Obama as POTUS (President Of The United States)?”
The outspoken stand-up tweeted a video message in which she apologised and said: "I am sorry. I went too far. I was wrong."
Earlier she had tweeted: "Obviously I do not condone any violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever. I'm merely mocking the Mocker In Chief." This tweet was reportedly deleted.
