Rarely Asked Questions – Liz Miele: Page 2 of 2

6. What do your parents think of your job?

They have been super supportive since day one. They support in different ways. My dad helps me with business aspects of the job when I need assistance or guidance and my mom comes to a lot of shows when they are close by.

7. What’s the worst thing about being a comedian?

Looking for parking.

8. I think you are very good at what you do. What do you think of you?

Ha. Depends on the day. Some days I'm like, I'm pretty good at this! And others I'm think, I could quit and just be like a funny personal trainer. And clients would be like, you should be a comedian and I'd be like, oh I could never.

9. How much do you earn and how much would you like to earn?

Enough to pay my bills and $70,000 (cause I read somewhere you don't get any happier after you make that much. So why strive for more than happiness can buy?)

10. How important is luck in terms of career success – have you had lucky breaks?

Luck is super important. I think you can make you're own luck by doing a lot of different things and always working and taking risks. I don't know what defines a lucky break. I had a video go viral. That feels like luck. I have good hair. That feels lucky too.

11. Alan Davies has said that comedians fall into two categories - golfers and self-harmers. The former just get on with life, the latter are tortured artists. Which are you – or do you think you fit into a third category?

I think I'm a self-harmer who's slowly becoming a golfer. I think age, therapy, good friends and reading a lot has helped me heal some and hope to be a full time golfer someday!

12. Who is your favourite person ever and why – not including family or friends or other comedians?

Brene Brown. She's incredible. She's a researcher and public speaker. She has the highest viewed Ted Talk about vulnerability. She's funny, smart, thoughtful, and relatable and I just love her work and how her mind works. She has both influenced me as a person and a writer more than some comedians.

13. Do you keep your drawers tidy and if not why not? (this is to settle an argument with my girlfriend. If you've taken my side thank you in advance)

At home, yes. In hotels where I spend half my life, no. Who won?*
