Rarely Asked Questions – Liz Miele

Liz Miele's stand-up show Mind Over Melee is about her experiences as an anxiety-ridden American. She jokes about her struggles with her physical health, mental illness in her family, dating, travelling through Europe alone and coming to grips with getting older and being an adult, all with a skewed logic of an angry New Yorker trying to make sense of everything. Sounds great, although I think the title should have been Making A Miele Of It.

Liz Miele is at the Underbelly from August 4 - 28. Tickets here.

1. What is the last thing you do before you go onstage (apart from check your flies and/or check your knickers aren't sticking out of your skirt and check for spinach between your teeth )?

Press record on my phone. I record every set in case I say something funny.

2. What irritates you?

Close talkers and people with no spatial awareness.

3. What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

Follow my dreams

4. What is the most stupid thing you have ever done?

Believe in myself

5. What has surprised you the most during your career in comedy?

That people like what I do. Still shocks me and still fills me with warm feelings and pride when people appreciate my perspective and jokes. I try not to take that for granted.
