News: Sky Arts Launches Irish Comedy Shorts With Katherine Ryan, Seann Walsh, Jason Byrne & More

Sky Arts has launched six comedy shorts at Kilkenny's Cat Laughs Festival, written by and starring a number of top comedians including Seann Walsh, Katherine Ryan, Jason Byrne and Irish sketch group Diet of Worms. The films, all set in Ireland, are now available on Sky. Here is a guide to the six films. Reviews here.

 

 

Seann Walsh

When Robin, a burnt-out actor, takes a trip to the Irish seaside, he soon bumps into his cousin Fred, who steers him wildly off course. Smart original comedy short starring Seann Walsh.

Jason Byrne 

Andrew (Jason Byrne) and his wife Helen played by Amy Huberman (pictured) impulsively steal a rug from a store. But, their actions turn their very simple honest lives into hell. Ingenious comedy short.

Al Porter

Al Porter, the Karaoke King, lives at home with his nana. But now he's got an agent, are his fortunes about to change? Inspired original comedy short.

Alison Spittle

Diet of Worms

The Kavanaghs were once Ireland's most famous quintuplets, but after a series of rows they drifted into obscurity. Now they are reunited for a morning TV show. Comedy from Diet of Worms.

Katherine Ryan

Katherine Ryan travels to Ireland to attend her nephew's christening. Being Canadian, a single mother and an atheist, her Irish family start to pray for her. Superb original comedy short.
