News: Alan Partridge Goes Vinyl To Support Record Store Day

Alan Partridge is to make his debut on vinyl. He will be immortalised on a picture disc, released by Demon Records especially for Record Store Day 2016.

Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge* features two full-length episodes of the classic BBC Radio 4 comedy, Knowing Me Knowing You, which pre-dated the TV series and helped establish Alan as a pop culture phenomenon. The episodes also feature Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It), Doon MacKichan (Smack the Pony), Rebecca Front (The Thick of It) and David Schneider (The Day Today).

Side A of the record features a show first broadcast on Radio 4 on 8 December 1992, where Alan’s guests were Simon Fisher, a 9-year-old prodigy, Janey Katz, a hypnotherapist and Nick Ford, a bad-boy lawyer. Side B is the episode first transmitted on Radio 4 on 5 January 1993 where Alan’s guests were Tony Hayers, Commissioning Director of BBC Television, Trudy Sky and Yvonne Boyd: presenter of The Show on Def Two and fashion designer respectively, and Lord Morgan of Glossop, the 84-year-old peer.

Record Store Day is the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture. Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion. Thousands more shops celebrate the day around the globe in what’s become one of the biggest annual events on the music calendar. The first Record Store Day was officially kicked off by Metallica in San Francisco in 2008. The 2016 Record Store Day takes place on Saturday 16 April and is supported by BBC Music.
