Comedy Season: Omid Djalili, Nish Kumar, James Acaster & More Play Cutty Sark

The Cutty Sark in Greenwich is launching a new season of comedy shows this week. Star attractions will be playing intimate gigs in the studio theatre below the deck of the legendary tea clipper which is moored in Greenwich in south London.

The first gig on February 28 features Omid Djalili, who is as famous these days for his movie and stage appearances as he is for his high energy stand-up shows. Djalili will be touring large theatres later this year so this is a rare opportunity to see him in full flow close-up.

Nish Kumar, March 18 – Kumar was nominated for the prestigious Foster’s Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015 and this is an early opportunity to see him trying out material for his eagerly anticipated follow-up show. Kumar’s comedy is political and topical but also witty, very funny and playful.

James Acaster (pictured), April 3 – an early preview of Acaster's next full-length show, entitled Reset. The Kettering comic has been nominated for a Foster’s Award four years in succession and has become famous in comedy circles and beyond as a skiulful stand-up whose shows are crafted to the point of perfection.

Austentatious, April 8 – the acclaimed improvisation team bring their hit show to Greenwich, creating a unique comic play in the style of Jane Austen based on audience suggestions. Every show is different, the only thing they have in common is that they are always brilliantly funny.

James Veitch, April 9 – if you’ve ever received an email from a Nigerian billionaire wanting to share their fortune with you check out Veitch’s show Dot Con, in which he tells the story of how he turned the tables on the scam merchants.

Josie Long, April 11 – Legendary award-winning comic returns to the live scene with new material in preparation for a brand new show.
