News: C4 Announces Cast For Windsors Soap

Channel 4 has announced the cast for its new six-part comedy soap opera The Windsors.

Harry Enfield will play Prince Charles with Haydn Gwynne (Drop the Dead Donkey) as Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall. Hugh Skinner (W1A, pictured) is Prince ‘Wills’ William, Duke of Cambridge with Louise Ford (Crashing) his Queen consort-in-waiting,  ‘Kate’, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The all-star line-up will also include Morgana Robinson (The Morgana Show) as Kate’s sister Pippa and Richard Goulding (Fresh Meat) takes his place fifth in line to the throne as Prince Harry.  Ellie White (House of Fools) and Celeste Dring (Josh) play Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, while Katy Wix (Miranda) and Tim Wallers (You, Me & The Apocalypse) will be their parents Fergie and Prince Andrew, with Matthew Cottle (Man Down) as Prince Edward.

Written by the co-creators of “Star Stories”, Bert Tyler-Moore and George Jeffrie, The Windsors will put the Royal Family into the comedy spotlight portraying their lives as a soap opera.

Head of Comedy Phil Clarke says; “In The Windsors, our much-loved Royal family is re-imagined through the lens of a soap opera, and although the stories are completely fictional, some are inspired by real events.  As a result, writers Bert and George have outdone even the funniest, most ludicrous issue of Hello! magazine ever.”

The series will be directed by Adam Miller (Mongrels) and made by Noho Film and TV (Tennison), executive produced by Camilla Campbell and Robert Wulff-Cochrane and produced by Izzy Mant (Harry & Paul). Filming begins in the spring.
